ABC Heart of America Endorses Eric Schmitt for U.S. Senate
KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI —Associated Builders and Contractors Heart of America today announced the endorsement of Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt for U.S. Senate. ABC Heart of America represents 237 local contractors in the industrial and nonresidential construction sector.
“On behalf of ABC’s members, I am proud to endorse Eric Schmitt to represent Missouri in the U.S. Senate,” said Ben Stallings, board chair of ABC Heart of America. “Schmitt has been a great partner to the merit shop construction community throughout his career, and we know he will work tirelessly to enact sound policy initiatives that support free and open competition and workforce development opportunities nationwide.”
Attorney General Schmitt has been a fierce supporter of free and open competition throughout his tenure, promoting policies that support merit shop construction workers and businesses. With nonresidential construction spending still below pre-pandemic levels, Schmitt understands the challenges faced by ABC member companies as they face regulatory burdens in order to compete in a sluggish economy.
“Our construction industry in Missouri has been crushed with higher energy costs and rising prices for building materials,” said Schmitt. “In the United States Senate, I will work to eliminate burdensome regulations that add unnecessary costs on small businesses, while reining in reckless spending in Congress that drives construction material prices higher.”
ABC Heart of America is the leading voice promoting fair and open competition in the construction industry in Missouri and Kansas. Founded on the merit shop philosophy, which encourages an open competition approach that awards contracts based solely on merit, regardless of labor affiliation, ABC exists to help members develop people, win work and deliver that work safely, ethically and profitably for the betterment of the communities in which ABC and its members work.
